Warm-Up Questions: Choose one of these.

  1. Describe an experience you had when you were young when you were really scared?
  2. What was most challenging to you from Peter B’s sermon on Sunday morning when you think about not being a slave to fear?
Observation and Interpretation Questions: 

Read Isaiah 41: 10-13

  1. What do you think God was trying to accomplish with His opening remark (verse 10)?
  2. Which of the three things God promises is most important to you (verse 10)?
  3. What is so surprising in God’s description of all He will do (verses 11-12)?
  4. Why do you suppose God repeats a variation of what He already said (verse 13)?
  5. How might you specifically make this a reality in your life during the coming week?

Read Isaiah 43:1-7

  1. Why did the shepherds react the way they did when the angels appeared (verses 8-9)?
  2. How was what they were first told supposed to quiet their fears (verses 10-11)?
  3. Why do you think they were given a specific sign to look for (verse 12)?
  4. How does keeping busy and redirecting your mind help to overcome your fears?

Read Luke 2:8- 12

  2. What can you do to make God’s repeated call to trust Him a bigger part of your lifestyle?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please enable us to grasp the fact that You want to have a close personal relationship with us so we can easily imagine putting our hand in Yours as we face our fears.

Talk & Pray with one another about how you can Join Jesus on His mission in your own lives this week, using the questions on the back, and pray for one another about any      personal concerns or praises you have.
